KUALA LUMPUR : National doubles coach Tan Kim Her officially began his first day of work at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara by having a heart-to-heart talk with his charges yesterday.
He spoke to Vountus Indra Mawan after the morning training session before doing the same with Mohd Lutfi Zaim Abdul Khalid in the afternoon.
He will continue to do the same with Goh Wei Shem, Teo Kok Siang, Pang Zheng Lin and Chooi Kah Ming over the next few days.
Last week, national chief coach Rexy Mainaky handed Kim Her the job of turning the three lowest ranked back-up pairs into world beaters.
Kim Her said it was important to have some input from his players before getting down to work.
“Vountus is the first one I spoke to. I wanted feedback about his goal and ambition,” said Kim Her.
“He has been aimless in the team as he has had to change partner several times.”
Kim Her said he would work out his plans for the players by the end of this week.
“For now, I see that Kok Siang and Kah Ming need to improve on their physical attributes. I will talk with the experts at the NSI (National Sports Institute) and get them to focus on this area,” said Kim Her.
“I am looking forward to this challenge and it certainly feels good to be back home and do what I love most.”
